Malaria

Mosquito-bite prevention and chemoprofylaxis recommended.

Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Mekong Delta, Red River Delta, and the coastal areas in central parts of the country: No malaria risk.

Central highlands (provinces of Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Gia Lai, Kontum, and Binh Phuoc) and western areas of coastal provinces Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan, Quang Nam, and Quang Tri: Mosquito bite prophylaxis. Medication prophylaxis with atovaquone/proguanil or mefloquine, possibly doxycycline, may be considered for extended stays in rural areas, especially for immigrants visiting relatives and friends.
