Additional information about polio vaccination

Travellers (regardless of age) who intend to stay in this country for more than 4 weeks are encouraged to have the polio vaccine between 4 weeks and 12 months before leaving the country.

For infants who are travelling, consider bringing vaccination forward and maybe switch to a 4-dose schedule for infants who will not have time to receive two doses of polio vaccine before departure.

The vaccination should be documented with an international vaccine certificate to ensure you can leave the country.

Yellow Fever Sertificate

This country requires documentation of yellow fever vaccination upon entry for travelers coming from or traveling via countries at risk of yellow fever transmission.

Malaria

Mosquito-bite prevention and chemoprofylaxis recommended.

Malaria risk due predominantly to P. falciparum exists throughout the year in the entire country except in northern areas (Dakhlet-Nouadhibou and Tiris-Zemour). In Adrar and Inchiri there is malaria risk during the
rainy season (from July through October). Mosquito-bite prevention and chemoprofylaxis recommended in risk areas and seasons. Northern areas (Dakhlet Nouadhibou and Tiris-Zemour) year-round and the Adrar and Inchiri areas from November to June: Mosquito bite prophylaxis.
