The division has expertise in the research and management of health registries, population health studies, biobanks and IT/e-health/digitalisation.
The division has expertise in health registries, population-based health surveys and biobanking, together with IT/digitalisation knowledge. The area also has research expertise related to health data, with a good overview of national e-health initiatives.
One of the division's most important tasks is the modernisation and comprehensive development of the Norwegian Institute of Public Health's infrastructure for health registries and health studies. Through this, the division contributes to ensuring that the potential of health data and biological material can be used for research and innovation both within and outside the institute. Furthermore, the division's work with digitisation helps to support the institute's strategic initiatives.
The division is also responsible for receiving, collecting and managing health data and biological material. This includes both handling data responsibility on behalf of NIPH as register administrator and working with quality assurance. The division also conducts its own research based on health registries and health studies, including the use of genetic data. This research is important for the division to have cutting-edge expertise in the further development of data sources and the infrastructure for administration.
