Infection Control Registries
The Department of Infection Control Registries oversees the national health registries within the field of infectious diseases and infection control.
The Department of Infection Control Registries oversees the national health registries within the field of infectious diseases and infection control, playing a pivotal role in Division of Infection Control's surveillance and preparedness efforts. The registries are regulated by the legal framework found in the Personal Health Data Filing System Act and related regulations, as well as in the Infection Protection Act.
Our operational responsibilities encompass data collection, data processing, and quality assurance, involving the analysis and interpretation of registry data, and dissemination of health data and statistics. Our core competence lies in the utilization of health registry data for infection control, surveillance, and research, as well as knowledge of the monitoring of infectious diseases, vaccination, and vaccine-related adverse effects. Furthermore, we possess knowledge of the relevant legislation governing health registries and the surveillance of infectious diseases. We maintain dialogue with healthcare professionals contributing data to the registries, with the aim of ensuring timely acquisition of high-quality data.
A key mandate for the department is to actively contribute to the ongoing refinement and improvement of the surveillance systems. This involves streamlining reporting procedures from the healthcare service, optimizing the quality assurance of data, and facilitating timely access to data. Another priority is international reporting to the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO), in accordance with applicable regulations.
The department is led by department director Anne-Marte Bakken Kran.
