Section of Cervical Cancer Screening
The Section of cervical cancer screening at the Cancer Registry of Norway, NIPH, operates CervicalScreen Norway.
The CervicalScreen Norway, which aims to reduce the number of cases and mortality from cervical cancer and provide advice and information to the authorities and the population about measures that can prevent the development of cervical cancer.
Norwegian health authorities recommend that all women between the ages of 25-69 have a HPV- test every 5 years. CervicalScreen Norway sends out reminders to women in this age group when it is time to have a new test or when they have not received follow-up as recommended. The section also operates HPV self-sample test, a project where the goal is that home tests can lead to even more people taking screening tests.
The Section of cervical cancer screening plays a key role in organization, implementation and evaluation of national screening measures for cervical cancer in Norway. The section also actively monitors, analyzes, and reports data to evaluate program effectiveness, monitor the incidence of cervical cancer, and contributes to the development of guidelines for cervical cancer screening and prevention. CervicalScreen Norway is also involved in several research projects related to cervical cancer, and collaborates with the medical community, both nationally and internationally.
