Responsibilities

Solveig Hofvind is head of the Section of breast cancer screening at the Cancer Registry of Norway, and since 2013 has been the head of BreastScreen Norway, a nationwide screening program where women aged 50 to 69 are invited to mammography screening every other year. Hofvind also works with research on breast cancer and screening, with a main focus on epidemiology, artificial intelligence, risk and prognosis, diagnostics and treatment. She is involved in a number of national and international research collaborations. Hofvind has 15 years' experience as radiographer within breast cancer and mammography. She obtained her master’s degree from the Norwegian School of Sports Sciences, where she researched physical activity and risk of breast cancer. In 2005, she was awarded a Dr. Philos from the University of Oslo. She was approved as a Professor in 2010. Hofvind also holds a position as Professor of Radiography at UiT, The Arctic University of Norway.
