Overdose incidence and mortality among drug users
Project
|Updated
The project will attempt to describe the risk of overdosing and other causes of death among injecting drug users and other heavy drug users.
Summary
In light of the high rate of mortality among injecting drug users in Norway, there is an urgent need for more knowledge relating to overdose incidents and circumstances surrounding fatal overdose incidents with a view to prevention. The project will attempt to describe the risk of overdosing and other causes of death among injecting drug users and other heavy drug users. The project is divided into four parts, each of which will use data from different sources. One will examine data from Oslo Accident & Emergency Department, while the other three will link data from the Cause of Death Registry to data from other sources. The risk of death and the importance of background and risk factors will be analysed in these three projects.
